A Conversation With Falin Daniels, The Face Behind Beauty For Ashes

A Conversation With Falin Daniels, The Face Behind Beauty For Ashes

1. What comes to your mind when you hear the word Beauty For Ashes?

A trade off, to exchange something dark or ugly (troubles) for something beautiful (peace of mind).

2. Tell us a bit about yourself and the journey that led you to where you are today?

After years of enduring so much hurt, lots of struggles, and various forms of abuse, I’d become dormant and detached from emotions. I bottled up all my feelings and kept them hidden. I never addressed or sought-after help and had convinced myself that I was fine. Years of having to be strong and brush things off had finally caught up with me and nearly destroyed my life. I was an emotional wreck, but my pride wouldn’t allow me to admit it. Then one day life took yet another turn, but this time I had no strength to even pretend to be fine. My children were hurting and I couldn’t help them because I myself was in need of help. But by the grace of God or a higher being, which I choose to believe is God, brought me out. I made a deal, to be proactive in my calling in exchange for the beauty of life. I agreed to hand over all my hurt- (ASHES) for my crown of Beauty-(Peace). I made a promise to myself and God to do my part and help as many as I can and that was the start to my New Beginnings.

3. Tell us about Beauty For Ashes and the story behind its existence.

A wonderful friend/mentor said to me one day before a speaking engagement that she had been thinking about me the night before and that God put it on her heart and mind – Beauty for Ashes and that was me, she witnessed me at one of the lowest points of my life and also had the chance to witness the beautiful person I was becoming. I’d never heard of B.F.A. Then about a year later I decided to research the meaning and found it to be a biblical reference, Isaiah 61:3. The rest is history.

4. What made you want to become a motivational speaker?

When I was younger I was intrigued by listening to motivational speakers and the way they captivated their audience. I enjoyed it then and even more so now listening to stories of triumph. I believe what better way to get a message across than to speak it, so I made the decision to comment and I set out to become one.

5. Tell us something about your book you are about to publish?

My book is raw, completely honest but yet so relatable. I wanted to expose the person I am. I want my readers to have an understanding of who Falin is and the foundation of her, (what I went through and how it shaped me) then the journey of all the effects these things had on me and then finally join me on the journey of my new beginning- where I am now and where I’m headed. I want to motivate and give hope to others that may feel alone as I did, that a better brighter tomorrow does exist.

To advocate for people that feel they don’t have a voice or feel ignored. I want my services to be the medium for them. I’ve learned that so many people actually want help, but many just don’t know where to start so I want my services to help them start, rather it be connecting them to the proper counselor or therapist or even them being apart of my peer support groups, it will be a starting point for them towards new beginnings.

My children and helping others become the best version of themselves

9. 3 things to stay strong in hard times.

Remain optimistic, know that it’s temporary and that things that are temporary will come to an end, just keep pressing. If you can’t find the strength to do it for yourself, do it for who you love most- you’ve got to believe that you have purpose. And never get consumed in your shortcomings, the future is always brighter, be patient. Like the LOTUS FLOWER – a symbol of transformation, rebirth, and triumph over obstacles: Even though it’s roots are in the dirtiest waters the lotus still produces the most beautiful flower. It just takes time, but you will be RENEWED.
